Half Way Entertaining

I arrive a George Dobson Field with my eleven year old son, my six year old daughter, and a friend of my son whom my wife gave up her ticket to the Gunslinger game to on Sunday night. We enter into the stadium after I drag the kids past the souvenir stand.
5:43 PM
I chat with Louie Avery about Tom Watson’s crash landing, and his own golf game. Daugther asks when can she go play on the blow-up toys. We head back out the gate towards the Gunslinger blow-up slide just otuside the stadium. Read the rest of this entry »

NASCAR’s New Old Home, Martinsville

As a former resident of Batesville, Arkansas I have a soft spot in my heart for it’s native son Mark Martin. As someone who is eleven months from turning 50, I find he is quickly becoming my new hero. When Julio Franco retired from MLB a couple of years ago, no athlete in one of the big three team sports was older than me. Even Jamie Moyer is younger than me. Now at age 50 Mark Martin has won four Spring Cup races this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Disappointing Rangers

No this is not going to be another of those the heat is here so the Rangers are folding columns. I will leave that to the sports commentators in the Metroplex. This is more personal. I wrote a piece a couple of months back about going to see the Rangers. I praised the franchise for finally getting it.
