Huge Win in Dallas
That was a huge win, and it looks like the road to Phoenix runs through Dallas now. Much of the credit should go to the O-line for an outstanding performance against a very good pass-rush team. Marc Colombo did a good job against the NFL sack leader Aaron Kampman, and Romo had plenty of time to throw all night. One great example of that was the touchdown pass to Anthony Fasano early in the 2nd quarter. After a play fake, Romo had no one anywhere close to him and it allowed him to wait for Fasano’s move, and step into the throw to get the ball over the cornerback in zone coverage underneath Fasano. Who’s Gonna Win… And Why: Week 13
Green Bay at Dallas: The NFC’s biggest game of the year is finally here. The Cowboys defense has improved in the way it handles the deep ball, but that improvement will be tested thoroughly on Thursday. The Packers have more deep threats than any other team in the league, and given the Cowboys past troubles with that, I expect to see the Pack go after them with the deep ball repeatedly. How Dallas handles that may determine the outcome of the game. But the Dallas offense has been powerful this year, and they might be able to make up for a defensive mistake or two. Then again, the Green Bay defense seems very solid, and if they can get pressure on Romo with their amazing front 4, this game could easily go the Packers way. Injuries will play quite a role since the Cowboys are without Terry Glenn, and possibly without Glenn’s replacement Patrick Crayton, while the Packers may have to play without CB Charles Woodson. I think both teams will want to run the ball consistently, but I think both teams will struggle to get it done. I think the most exciting matchups to watch in this game are the offensive tackles against the edge rushers, regardless of which team has the ball. Both teams have very good protection and very good pass rush, so keep your eye on the edges. I expect a great game that could go either way. All in all, I think the Cowboys are the better team, and they have home field. (I can’t remember the last time I saw a 10-1 team come into a game as a 7 point dog). I’ll take the Cowboys. Observations on week 12
Two players reached 10,000 yards rushing this weekend. Warrick Dunn in his 11th year, and LaDainian Tomlinson in his 7th year. The same mark was reached by Fred Taylor (in his 10th year) 2 weeks ago. Before these three players reached the 10K mark, only 20 players in history had done it. That’s quite an accomplishment. Read the rest of this entry »

Houston Nutt
Sportdate 11 – 26 – 2007
I have mixed emotions about Houston Nutt’s departure from the University of Arkansas. People think it strange that since I am a Longhorn fan, that I also root for the Razorbacks. But I do, and I rooted for Houston Nutt to be sucessful. Read the rest of this entry »

Press Conference at 6:30
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – An announcement regarding the future of the Arkansas Razorback football program has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the Raymond Miller Room located in the Broyles Athletic Center University of Arkansas Chancellor John A. White, Men’s Athletic Director Frank Broyles and Head Football Coach Houston Nutt will be in attendance. University of Arkansas officials will not offer additional comment prior to the announcement.
Satellite television trucks should park in lot 44 west and run cables through the door located at the bottom of the hill near the entrance to the Miller Room.
I will hopefully be in attendance and will provide ya’ll with some video.
I think it is interesting that the University said that they wouldn’t decide anything about Nutt until New AD Jeff Long met with Houston Nutt in the middle of this week. Long has yet to met with Nutt to discuss his future. Preliminary word is that either an extension and raise will be given or that Nutt will be leaving for Georgia Tech. Stay tuned for more information as it develops.
UPDATE: It is official. Houston Nutt resigns as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Former Defensive Coordinator Reggie Herring was named interim Head Coach for the bowl game. New AD Jeff Long will be in charge of the hiring. The crowd at the Press Conference was eerily somber. Darren McFadden, after the Press Conference, was too upset to comment to the media. The search will get interesting, as well as the fallout from recruiting and transfers of current players.
Early word has Arkansas looking at Tommy Tuberville, from Auburn.
