Check Out the State Baseball Tournament Pics
Sportsdate 7-31-2007
Thanks to the lightening fast speed of the internet, we now have pictures from LE and Hooks’ trips to the state baseball tournament six weeks ago. Ok, so the whole process works better if the photographer (me) turns the pictures over to the webmaster (Steve) right after the event instead of holding on to them for a well over a month. TEX Gone, “AS(S) Rangers” Remain
Sportsdate 7-30-2007
Boy I hope I am wrong about this trade, but I hate to see Mark Teixeira traded to the Braves today. I know he has a hard to deal with agent (Scott Boras) who made Tom Hicks the laughing stock of professional baseball on the A-Rod deal. Still,Tex hits a ton, and actually fields his position. I know it would have taken a truck load of money to resign him, but that is what stars cost in major league baseball.
My son has a poster on his wall of the Rangers young dream infield of a couple of years back. A-Rod was gone, but we had Blaylock, Young, Soriano, and Tex manning the infield for years to come. So much lumber playing in the dirt that we could get some light hitting speedy outfielders and be good to go. Well at least we have the light hitting outfielders now, as half of that foursome has been shipped off in the name of not being able to resign them.
I guess I should not complain too much, at least I didn’t buy tickets to go watch David “No Show” Beckham play in Frisco Tuesday night. I also will get to see most of Tex’s games on TBS, and in the post season.

Training camp’s started, Vick’s been indicted, and all is right with the world.
Finally, after much investigation, they indicted Mike Vick. Clearly a crime was committed on his property, but the government will have to prove that Vick participated in it, or, at the very least, knew about it. There is, of course, no physical evidence of his involvement, but there are witnesses who claim that Vick was involved. Personally, I think witnesses who have a chance to take down a celebrity have a reason to lie, and that can be exploited by Vick’s defense.
Of course, this leaves the Falcons wondering about the suspension that will follow. A case like this can change at any time, with a plea bargain or strong new testimony cracking the case wide open. That means that if the NFL waits to suspend Vick, they could wind up having to suspend him at any time, even during the playoffs. But if they suspend him now, they’re jumping ahead of a trial that just might work out differently from what we expect.
I say they have to wait to suspend him, but that puts the Falcons in limbo, knowing that eventually they will lose their QB, but not knowing when or for how long.
So if you’re running training camp for the Falcons, do you plan on starting this season? Joey Harrington is the backup.
Speaking of training camp… IT’S TIME FOR TRAINING CAMP!!!!! Soon we’ll all be getting regular news reports about how Terrell Owens disrespected the head coach by forgetting to shave or by wearing shoes that don’t match his belt. We’ll get every boring detail of off-season life, but I’ll try to keep up with what the Cowboys have, and what’s developing. Stay tuned.
